Clean and protect chrome with  Blue Magic Metal Polish with a terrycloth towel or a soft  toothbrush if needed. Buff off with clean terrycloth.

For stainless steel that's very rusty - first polish it with Bright Boy metal polish. Use a soft or medium toothbrush to clean rust from corners, joints and stanchion bases. Follow with Sea Power polish.

For stainless steel with medium/light oxidation use Sea Power polish with a terrycloth towel. For highly polished stainless, remove the polish with a Microfiber Towel for best results.

Use a medium or stiff toothbrush to get dried wax out of screw heads.

Hi Jim,
Assuming your boat is out of the water, I would suggest cleaning the props in three steps:
First, use a stiff hand brush with soap and water and remove the the big stuff (barnacles, etc.). Second, I would switch to a fine scrub pad and liquid cleanser with bleach (such as Soft Scrub) to get the intermediate stains and rust. Last, use a terry towell and a good metal polish such as Blue Magic to smooth the surface and polish out whatever stains are left. Make a final pass with a microfiber towell.
I would avoid using acid-based barnacle or rust removers because they can etch the stainless and accelerate future rusting. Hope this helped!

Dear Doug,

My boat has stainless props. It sat for 2 years. I want to clean off props from barnacles etc.
What is the best method(s) for cleaning besides a prop shop? Jim

Dear Doug,
Can you tell me what I should use on  my aluminum stantions? I really don't want
 them to corrode.
Thanks, Denise

Hi Denise,

If they're not anodized and don't have any corrosion, the best product I've
found to date is Blue Magic Metal Polish.
Sincerely, Doug
